Eddan start from beginning of the world to Rangnarök and beyond. One follows the events of the invincible sword that disrupted the balance of power in the mythological world and started the apocalyptic cycle.
In Tolkien’s variant of this the ring is destroyed saving the world, but here the world goes under and a new world arises.
The sword was forged as revenge upon the gods and their creation by the elf Völund/ Valand.
